Our mission is to bring lasting style that ACTUALLY FITS women aged 40 and older, thereby allowing us to feel and look good again. Style that works WITH us and FOR us.
We are tired to try and fit into the styles out there and want to make the styles fit us instead!
And let’s be honest – we might feel ok, good, adequate, or just fine, but we just feel better when we know we look good, irrespective of our body size or body type.
We also want to celebrate “older” women as we age. We might not have that elastic and “flawless” skin that the younger generation punts, but it does NOT mean we are not beautiful.
I love the grey coming through and the laugh lines showing, as it adds that little bit of extra character and beauty to an otherwise beautiful woman.
We also want to give back
With 40&Fabulous, we also want to do our part by giving back.
And it starts with something very small – local sourcing and local production. This is our way in which we want to do our bit in supporting the local clothing manufacturers, as well as the South African economy.
We also support small businesses and try to source all our products from small suppliers. And if you know of a brilliant local supplier that you know will compliment our offerings, feel free to let us know and we will see if we can get them on board.
We want to be responsible and it starts with being more sustainable. We will do our utmost to use natural fabrics, but also reduce transport and packaging, and this we aim to do by sourcing the majority of our clothing from manufacturers based in the Western Cape. And I have a calling which I want to answer
Lastly, there is a calling that I as the owner, want to answer and generate funding for – Homelessness.
And 40&Fabulous will help me in generating the funding needed to answer this calling, by donating a fixed percentage of all profits towards this project.
But why homelessness?
As I have been driving around in George and Mosselbay, I have seen more and more people homeless. And irrespective of why they ended up on the street, I really feel that with something small, we can help.
My aim is to create a community for the homeless. The way I see it is that a large property/smallholding is used to allow for shared accommodation for the homeless. But with the difference of the property being able to allow for the residents to grow vegetables and raise some fowl to allow them to feed themselves.
Not only will this provide them with accommodation and food, but they will learn different skills (from building to cultivation, to sales, etc). The end goal will be to cultivate extra produce which will be sold to local supermarkets, grocers, butchers, etc. The income generated, will then be plowed back into the community to first of all; pay for all its expenses and secondly; grow it to generate more income to help more people.
And once a person meets a certain level, they then move on and open a space for someone new to learn the same skills.
I truly believe that if this system is managed correctly, it will assist people to get back on their feet and allow them to become active citizens again that can contribute to the economy and South Africa at large.
